I wrote my first book, Yuvika’s Diary, when I was 4 years old. Yuvika’s Diary is a peek into a full week in my life at that point. I depicted all activities that I enjoy doing. I combined it with my observations about the weather on that day, to give readers a feel of the environment and the mood. It brings in the concept of days of the week and chronicles a routine.
I was inspired to write the book after reading a similar Oxford Reading Tree book. Writing the book was a fun experience! It took one week of all my free time, including most of the weekend, every morning before school, and at night before going to bed. My favorite part was planning each page of the book, painting and writing in rainbow colors. Illustrations are done with a combination of art mediums: Paints, Sketch pens and Oil Pastels.
The ideas (from conception to story) and illustrations are all exclusively my work. My mom helped with the motorbike illustration and of course, with the publishing of the book. I developed appreciation for the effort that goes into writing & making all the books I read. I wish for other children to get inspired to read lots of books and to think about their routine. The book has about 15 pages.
I hope you have as much fun reading it, as I had in writing and making it!
